Rare’s One Special Walk: Rain, Smiles, and a Whole Lot of Miles!

On Friday, October 6th, a team of enthusiastic Rare adventurers braved London’s wind and rain to take on SpecialEffect’s epic One Special Walk. What started as a 26km challenge turned into a nearly 30km trek for some, thanks to a few creative detours – talk about going the extra mile!
Our Rare folks joined the 500 people involved to tackle SpecialEffect’s biggest challenge event yet. Starting at West Ham’s London Stadium, our walkers discovered London’s iconic landmarks along the way (with plenty of rest stops and a cuppa or two!) and eventually reached the finish at Wembley Stadium. Windswept and soggy, our Rare wanderers joined the massive celebration at the end of their perilous journey and snapped a photo of their happy, tired faces.
But the real magic wasn’t just in the distance covered. Thanks to the dedicated effort of all involved, SpecialEffect – the charity dedicated to bringing fun and inclusion back into the lives of physically disabled gamers – raised an astonishing £121,000 from the event! Every step, every donation and every cheer along the way brings us closer to a world where everyone can join in the fun.
